អាកាសយានដ្ឋានអន្តរជាតិសៀមរាបអង្គរ (SAI) ថ្មី និងធំជាងគេបំផុតរបស់កម្ពុជា បានចាប់ផ្តើមប្រតិបត្តិការពាណិជ្ជកម្មជាផ្លូវការនៅថ្ងៃទី ១៦ ខែតុលា ឆ្នាំ ២០២៣ នៅតំបន់ភាគខាងកើតនៃខេត្តសៀមរាប ប្រទេសកម្ពុជា។
លោក ស៊ិន ច័ន្ទសេរីវុត្ថា អ្នកនាំពាក្យរដ្ឋលេខាធិការដ្ឋានអាកាសចរស៊ីវិលបានមានប្រសាសន៍ក្នុងពិធីសម្ពោធថា “ជាមួយនឹងផ្លូវរត់ប្រវែង ៣៦០០ ម៉ែត្រ SAI គឺជាអាកាសយានដ្ឋានអន្តរជាតិកម្រិត 4E ដែលអាចផ្ទុកជើងហោះហើរចម្ងាយឆ្ងាយពីជុំវិញពិភពលោក។ យើងសង្ឃឹមថា អាកាសយានដ្ឋាននឹងទាក់ទាញក្រុមហ៊ុនអាកាសចរណ៍អន្តរជាតិថ្មីៗ ដើម្បីធ្វើប្រតិបត្តិការជើងហោះហើរត្រង់ទៅកាន់ខេត្តសៀមរាប ដែលជាទឹកដីនៃឧទ្យានបុរាណវិទ្យាអង្គរដែលចុះបញ្ជីដោយអង្គការយូណេស្កូ»។
SAI ត្រូវបានកំណត់ថានឹងក្លាយជាតួអង្គសំខាន់នៅក្នុងតំបន់ ជាមួយនឹងផែនការផ្ទុកអ្នកដំណើរបានរហូតដល់ 7 លាននាក់ជារៀងរាល់ឆ្នាំ ដោយរាប់ចាប់ផ្តើមនៅឆ្នាំ 2024 ។ គម្រោងនេះមានគោលបំណងជួយដល់អ្នកដំណើរចំនួន 12 លាននាក់នៅឆ្នាំ 2040 ដោយរំពឹងលើការបញ្ចប់ដំណាក់កាលសាងសង់ដែលបានគ្រោងទុកទាំងអស់។ មានន័យថាគ្រប់គ្រងជើងហោះហើរដ៏គួរឱ្យទាក់ទញចំនួន 65,800 ក្នុងមួយឆ្នាំចាប់ពីឆ្នាំ 2023 ដែលនៅទីបំផុតនឹងកើនឡើងដល់កម្រិត 112,700 ជើងហោះហើរប្រចាំឆ្នាំនៅឆ្នាំ 2040។ តួលេខទាំងនេះលើសពីសមត្ថភាពរបស់អាកាសយានដ្ឋានអន្តរជាតិសៀមរាប (REP) ដែលជានិមិត្តរូបនៃអាកាសចរណ៍ចាប់តាំងពីការសម្ពោធដាក់ឱ្យប្រើប្រាស់ នៅឆ្នាំ 1932 ។

Cambodia’s newest and largest airport, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI), officially commenced commercial operations on October 16, 2023, in the eastern region of Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Mr. Sinn Chanserey Vutha, State Secretariat of Civil Aviation spokesman, said during the opening ceremony, “With a 3,600-meter runway, SAI is a 4E-level international airport that can accommodate long-distance flights from across the world. We hope the airport will attract new international airlines to operate direct flights to Siem Reap province, home of the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archeological Park.”
SAI is set to become a key player in the region, with plans to accommodate up to 7 million passengers annually starting in 2024. This project aims to support 12 million passengers by 2040, contingent on completing all planned construction phases. It means handling an impressive 65,800 flights per year from 2023, eventually soaring to a staggering 112,700 annual flights by 2040. These figures far exceed the capacity of the historic Siem Reap International Airport (REP), which has been a symbol of aviation since its inauguration in 1932.
